FIVE MINUTES FROM SAGRADA FAMILIA
The Sagrada Família is a monumental basilica, which was started to be constructed in 1882 by architect Francisco de Paula del Villar (1828-1901). In late 1883, Gaudí was commissioned the continuation of the work, which he carried on until his death in 1926. Since then, several architects have continued the construction following Gaudí’s original idea.
The temple is located in the center of Barcelona and has become one of the most universal signs of identity of the city and the country. It is visited annually by millions of people, and often studied for its architectural and religious content.
